DUSHANBE, September 28, Asia-Plus - Uzbek gas supplies to Dushanbe have been cut off for uncertain time because of an accident on the gas pipeline in the territory of Uzbekistan.

Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor’s office, said that they had received telephoned telegram from Tojikgaz (Tajik state gas concern) ordering its Dushanbe branch to stop gas supplies in connection with the accident on the gas pipeline in the territory of Uzbekistan.

A source in Tojikgaz said that not only residents of Dushanbe but also residents of Hissor Valley (central Tajikistan) have been left without gas.  “The gas supplies will resume as soon as the accident is removed,” the source said, adding that they expect specialist to have removed the accident by the next morning.
