DUSHANBE, September 28, Asia-Plus - Another drug trafficking attempt has been warded off in Sughd.
According to the Ministry of Interior (MoI), traffic police officers found more than one kilogram of heroin yesterday, when searching a car VAZ-2106 at the checkpoint in the Qistakuz settlement in the northern district of Bobojonghafurov. The car driver, a 22-year-old resident of Isfara Hasan Qahhorov, and his passenger, a 39-year-old Amon Sultonov, were detained on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking. Investigation is under way.
Since the beginning of the year, Tajik police have seized some 1,500 kilograms of drugs, according to the source.
