KHUJAND, October 13, Asia-Plus - The Sughd drug control officers have warded off an attempt by drug traffickers to smuggle a large amount of drugs into northern Tajikistan.
Fayzullo Abdulloyev, the chief of the Drug Control Agency (DCA) directorate for the Sughd province, said that their officers intercepted 60 kilograms of heroin yesterday. 55 packages containing totaling 60 kilograms of heroin were hidden in a tank of one of three heavy truck KAMAZ that arrived in the region from Dushanbe.
Investigation is under way. The result of searching two other trucks will be reported later, according to the Sughd drug control chief.
