DUSHANBE, December 12, Asia-Plus - Kideki Uyama, head of the Section for Central Asia and Caucasus, Europe Department, Japan’s MFA, is arriving in Dushanbe today evening, according to Japan’s Embassy in Dushanbe.

Japan’s MFA official is arriving in Tajikistan to attend a meeting of the working group for economic cooperation within the framework of the “Central Asia plus Japan” Dialogue that will be held in Dushanbe on December 13.   Representatives from foreign ministries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will also take part at a December 13 meeting in Dushanbe.  

A source at the Japan’s Embassy said that a meeting of representatives from business circles of Tajikistan and Japan will be held in Dushanbe on December 14.  

We will recall that foreign ministers of Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and the special envoy from Kazakhstan held the Second Foreign Ministers'' Meeting within the framework of the "Central Asia plus Japan" Dialogue in Tokyo in June last year.  Particpatns at the meeting reviewed the progress of cooperative actions within the new framework agreed on at the First Foreign Ministers'' Meeting held in August, 2004, and discussed how the countries could cooperate among themselves, focusing on the promotion of intra-regional cooperation.  A consensus was built among the delegates that the stability and development of Central Asia are indispensable for the peace and prosperity of the Eurasian Continent as well as the international community as a whole.
