DUSHANBE, January 4, Asia-Plus – Pamir Media – Residents of the Ishkashim district in Gorno Badakhshan have got an opportunity to use cellular communications after Indigo-Tajikistan has installed necessary equipment in the district, the Khorog news agency Pamir Media quoted Aslan Anvarov, head of the Indigo-Tajikistan branch in Khorog, as saying.
“At present Indigo-Tajikistan’s services are available only for residents of the administrative center, but gradually Indigo-Tajikistan will extend the range,” Anvarov said, noting that the company has also opened its dealer center in the district.
Indigo-Tajikistan launched service in July 2002 in the southern region of Tajikistan and is a leading operator in southern Tajikistan. In addition to the capital of Dushanbe, Indigo-Tajikistan provides coverage to all major population centers as well as to remote cities in the mountainous Gorno Badakhshan region. Indigo-Tajikistan currently provides national and international automatic roaming, and other major value-added-services supported by advanced digital networks.
In the meantime, due to efforts taken by Tajik Internet provider Telecomm Technology, Internet and IP telephony services are also available in Ishkashim. Malakboz Malakbozov, the Telecomm Technology regional manager for Gorno Badakhshan noted that their company has also its center n the Vanj district and they plan to open one more center in Darvoaz.
Founded in 1994, Telecomm Technology is the first Internet provider in Tajikistan. The company has been working in Gorno Badakhshan since May 2003.
