DUSHANBE, January 25, Asia-Plus - Issues related to state and prospects of development of microfinance in Central Asia, In Tajikistan in particular, will be discussed at a roundtable meeting formally titled “Mircofinance in Central Asia: Present State and Prospects of Development” that will be held in Dushanbe tomorrow.
Noorinisso Rustamova, director of the microfinance organization ZAR also member of Tajik Microfinance Organizations’ Association, said “The roundtable meeting was staged by the Central Asian Microfinance Center jointly with the Microfinance Project of the Center for East Europe and CIS and Coordinating Group on Assistance to the Poorest People.”
According to her, the meeting participants include representatives from donor organizations active in Tajikistan, Tajik Microfinance Organizations’ Association, Tajik central bank, president’s executive office and parliament.
The main objective of the meeting is to discuss issues related to supporting the development of an effective microfinance industry enabled to contribute to income generation and job creation on sustainable basis. The meeting will focus on designing the microfinance development strategy to provide a broad range of finance services such as deposits, loans, payment services, money transfers, etc.
