DUSHANBE, January 31, Asia-Plus - The issue of functioning of school # 14 in Dushanbe that had previously been under jurisdiction of the Russian border service’s directorate in Tajikistan will be settled in February, Aleksandr Dorofeyev, Representative of Roszarubezhcenter (Russian overseas center) to Tajikistan also Adviser to the Russian Ambassador, said at a news conference in Dushanbe yesterday.
According to him, the Russian government has already endorsed a draft agreement on the school. “As soon as the Tajik authorities also approve the draft agreement, Russian officials will arrive in Dushanbe to sign it,” Dorofeyev said.
On the status of this school, the Roszarubezhcenter representative said that it will be Russian-Tajik educational facility at Russian-Tajik Slavic University (RTSU) in Dushanbe.
Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan Ramazan Abdulatipov told journalists that 56 computers and more than 60,000 textbooks and other literature were handed over to the Tajik Ministry of Education last year as part of Russian federal program “Russian Language.”
The ambassador noted that at present some 1,000 Tajik students are currently studying at higher educational institutions in the Russian Federation.
Russian diplomat stressed that Russia is interested in preservation of the Russian language and culture in Tajikistan.
Abdulatipov noted that Russian diplomatic mission in Dushanbe plans to have published a collection of works by classics of Tajik literature this year as part of the federal program.
