DUSHANBE, February 17, Asia-Plus -- Capital mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev has endorsed a schedule of fairs of agricultural and industrial goods in Dushanbe. 

Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, Ubaidulloyev on February 14 signed a resolution, under which 63 fairs are scheduled to be held in Dushanbe this year.  “Four fairs have already been held,” the spokesman said, adding that the next fair will be held on the Qariyai Bolo market on February 18. 

The resolution obligates the Dushanbe relevant municipal services, including the trade department and antimonopoly, sanitary-epidemiological and veterinary agencies, to prepare marketplaces for holding the fairs and provide observance of rights of consumers.  

 According to the spokesman, the Dushanbe mayor’s office has applied to the ministry of agriculture and environmental protection, the country’s consumer societies’ union Tojikmatlubot, as well as administrations of regions for help in organizing the agricultural fairs in Dushanbe.  

            It is expected that farming units and some enterprises of light industry from Khatlon, Sughd and districts subordinate for the center will present their goods in the fairs in Dushanbe.  

“These fairs are held to promote further development of production of agricultural output and reduction in prices of farm produce on markets in the city,” the spokesman said, noting that fairs on the occasion of holidays will be held in accordance with additional schedule.
