DUSHANBE, March 1, Asia-Plus - Tajikistan plans to create a network of regional correspondents.
According to Rukhshona Najmiddinova, Media and Outreach Coordinator with Dushanbe Office of Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA), a training for regional journalists will be conducted at the office of Internews Network Tajikistan in Dushanbe on March 5.
This training is part of the EFCA’s Creation of Tajik Network of Regional Correspondent Program.
According to her, the training participants include 20 journalists from Gorno Badakhshan, Khatlon and Sughd provinces as well as districts subordinate to the center (RRP).
Najmiddinova added that on conclusion of the training only the seven best participants will be selected to work with the regional network.
“After the training, during a year, they will write articles and publish them in independent Tajik-language newspapers,” Najmiddinova said, noting that at first, EFCA will pay for their work to support them. “We hope that in future, they will conclude contracts and will cooperate with independent media or work as stringers,” Rukhshona Najmiddinova said.
