DUSHANBE, March 27, Asia-Plus -- An official opening of representative office of joint-stock company (JSC) KazakhTelecom, Kazakhstan’s national carrier, will be held in Dushanbe today afternoon.
Anvar Sarsynbayev, First Secretary, Kazakh Embassy in Dushanbe, said in an interview with Asia-Plus that the main purpose of opening of the representative office in Dushanbe is for Kazakhstan’s national carrier to implement joint projects in cooperation with Tajik Telecom (Tajikistan’s national telecommunications operator).
For his part, Makhsut Karzhubayev, the head of the KazakhTelecom representative office in Dushanbe, said that the first stage of cooperation with Tajik Telecom includes installation of optic-fiber network that will link Tajikistan to Kazakhstan through Kyrgyzstan. “Besides, KazakhTelecom intends to get in telecommunications markets in Afghanistan, Pakistan and India through Tajikistan,” Karzhubayev said.
“We are expanding our operation into Central Asia and ready to invest in development of fixed-line telecommunications in Tajikistan and participate in the implementation of joint projects,” the representative office head said, noting that they also plan to organize satellite broadcasts of Kazakh television to Tajikistan.
“For this, a powerful satellite KazSat-1 will be used,” said Karzhubayev, “Besides, this satellite may also be used for organizing audio and video conferences.”
According to him, KazakhTelecom top manager Askar Zhumagaliyev today arrived in Dushanbe to negotiate the cooperation issues with Tajik Energy and Industry Minister Abdurahim Ashurov and leadership of Tajik Telecom.
