DUSHANBE, April 3, Asia-Plus -- A delegation of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (IPA) permanent commission for economics and finance arrived in Dushanbe yesterday for a five-day visit, press service of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) said.  

Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, said that a session of the CIS IPA permanent commission for economics and finance is being held in Dushanbe today.  

The commission members are also scheduled to meet with the Majlisi Namoyandagon speaker Saydullo Khairulloyev and a  group of members of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Committee on Economics, Budget, Finance and Taxes

During their stay in Tajikistan, the commission members also intend to visit the Tajik Aluminum Plant (TadAZ) in Tursunzoda.    

The Assembly was established in March 1995 by the leaders of Supreme Soviets (parliaments) of the Commonwealth countries as a consultative institution to discuss problems of parliamentary cooperation and develop proposals by the parliaments of the CIS states.  The Assembly consists of parliamentary delegations of the states -  participants of the CIS. The activities of the Assembly are carried out by the Assembly Council, which comprises the leaders of the parliamentary delegations.  The Assembly Secretariat, headed by Secretary-General, was created to ensure the work of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, its Council and commissions.
