DUSHANBE, April 6, Asia-Plus -- US Ambassador to Tajikistan Tracey Ann Jacobson told a news conference in Dushanbe on April 5 that the United States denies allegations by some media about the beginning of military actions against Iran as “unfounded.”

Speaking to journalists, Jacobson said that the United States does not plan to begin military actions against Iran as some media report in Internet.  “I heard about this recently.  It is absolutely absurd allegation,” said the ambassador, “We did not have and do not have such plans.”  “We jointly with international community try to settle this issue only by diplomatic way; all international community wants Iran to fulfill requirements of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).”

She also stated that Iran with nuclear weapon poses threat not only to the United States but also to the Central Asian region.  “If Iran decides to stop work on developing nuclear weapon, the United States is ready to consider this issue by diplomatic way and even ready to provide some assistance to this country,” Ms. Jacobson said.

The US Ambassador expressed satisfaction with decision of Russia to second the UN Security Council resolution on Iran.  “The resolution was adopted with complete support of Russia,” US diplomat noted.
