DUSHANBE, April 11, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan and the United Arab Emirates have signed a series of cooperation documents
Presidential press service said that officials of the two countries on April 9 signed five cooperation agreements in Abu Dhabi. “The sides signed the agreements on trade and economic cooperation, legal assistance in criminal cases, legal assistance in civil and commercial cases, extradition of detainees, as well as a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the National Bank of Tajikistan and the UAE Central Bank,” press release issued by presidential press service said.
The same day, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, who is currently on his official visit to the United Arab Emirates, met in Abu Dhabi with Abd al-Aziz al-Ghurair, Speaker of the UAE Parliament known as the Federal National Council (FNC). In the course of the talks Rahmon and al-Ghurair discussed issues related to establishment and expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Tajikistan and the UAE. Both sides vowed to boost bilateral cooperation in this direction.
On April 10, Emomali Rahmon left for Dubai, where he held talks with the UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum.
During the meeting it was noted that Tajikistan had created a favorable investment environment and laid legal foundation for promoting attraction of foreign investments and the state-run and private companies of the two countries could establish and expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
The sides also exchanged views on ways to widen regional and interregional cooperation and underlined the importance of establishing long-term cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Arab Emirates in various fields.
