DUSHANBE, April 18, Asia-Plus - The Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) will set up a group of friendship with Lithuanian parliament.
Shavkat Saidov, an aide to the Majlisi Milli speaker for media and NGOs, said that the Majlisi Milli Chairman Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev remarked this at a meeting with visiting Lithuanian Foreign Minister Petras Vaitiekunas on April 17.
During the meeting, the two spoke for expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and Lithuania, the aide said.
“Lithuanian minister noted that his country attaches an important significance to expansion of cooperation with Tajikistan as a strategically important partner in the Central Asian region,” said Saidov, “According to him, the establishment of direct cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries will promote expansion of bilateral relations between Lithuania and Tajikistan.”
