DUSHANBE, June 18, Asia-Plus - A technical assistance has been provided to medical workers in the Sarband district, Khatlon.  

According to the unit for implementation of health projects in Tajikistan, special medical bags containing all minimally necessary clinical and diagnostic supplies, as well as expandable materials have been handed over to a group of family doctors and nurses in Sarband.

The source said that the technical assistance had been provided as part of the Community and Basic Health Project for Tajikistan.  

Within the next few days, similar medical bags will be handed over to medical workers in Khatlon’s Norak, Qubodiyon, and Shuroobod districts as well as to family doctors and nurses in the Asht district of Sughd, the source said.  

According to him, 72 family doctors and 156 family nurses have to date been trained in six pilot districts.  

The Community and Basic Health Project for Tajikistan aims to increase access to, utilization of, and patient satisfaction with health services in project-supported areas, and to build capacity and efficiency at national, oblast and rayon levels in administering a basic package of health benefits and introducing financing reforms in primary health care.
