DUSHANBE, July 12, Asia-Plus — Education Minister Abdujabbor Rahmonov told journalists in Dushanbe on July 12 that president’s order on a ban on students’ parking their private cars outside buildings of higher educational institutions has not been implemented properly.
“At present we are working with rectors of all higher educational institutions in this direction,” the minister said.
Besides, level of knowledge of many school leavers does not meet requirements, the minister said. “Inspections by the Education Ministry specialists of high schools during final examinations had recorded instances, when teacher were giving school leavers too high marks in examinations,” Rahmonov said.
Speaking to journalists, Deputy Education Minister, Farhod Rahimov noted that some 79,000 students had finished high schools this year.
“Higher educational institutions will be able to accept 28,000 students; of them, only 9,000 will study in so-called budgetary groups (they will receive student grants , while others will be accepted to study on contractual basis.” To date, some 45 percent of school leavers have lodged applications for entering this or other higher educational institution, the deputy minister said.
Rahimov added that this year, 969 persons, including 528 young women and 441 young men will enter higher educational institutions by presidential quota.
