DUSHANBE, September 20, Asia-Plus -- Tajik cotton farmers are taking real measures to gather cotton on time and fulfill the national target, which has been determined at 550,000 of cotton.
The grain and industrial crops department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection (MoAEP) said that the republic has yielded 183,325 tons of raw cotton by September 20, which comprises 33.3 percent of this year’s target.
Yesterday alone, cotton farmers produced 9,752 tons of cotton, which is 1.8 percent of the national target.
Southern Khatlon province has yielded 125,209 tons of cotton so far, which is 37.9 percent of its target determined at 330,500 tons.
Cotton growers of the Sughd province have produced 43,548 tons of cotton by September 20. Their target is 171,300 tons of cotton.
Districts subordinate to the center (RRPs) have pledged to produce 48,200 tons of cotton this year. They have gathered 14,568 tons of a valuable textile raw material to this day, which is 30.2 percent of the target.
