DUSHANBE, September 21, Asia-Plus — Search operations by officers from the Ministry of Interior (MoI) have led to the discovery of two arms caches in the country.
The source at a MoI said that one of the caches was discovered at the Sari Osiyo cemetery in Dushanbe yesterday. Four sub-machine-guns Kalashnikov, one grenade F-1 and more than 691 bullets of different caliber were extracted from the hide, according to the source.
The same day, police officer discovered another arms cache in the Rudaki district, some 20 kilometers southwest of the Tajik capital. The source said that two sub-machine-guns Kalashnikov, two rifles, four grenades RGD-5 and more than 4,400 bullets of different caliber had been extracted from the hide.
In January-August 2007, 1,064 unit of firearms, including 270 sub-machine-guns Kalashnikov, 151 pistols, 191 rifles and 386 hunting guns, have been confiscated from the population in Tajikistan.
