DUSHANBE, October 1, Asia-Plus – Itar-Tass -- About 20 documents were signed on September 28 on the results of work of a meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
The defense ministers of seven CSTO member-countries considered, in particular, a package of documents on the normative and organizational registration within the CSTO framework of a mechanism of peacekeeping activities, including an Agreement on peacekeeping activities, a Provision on collective peacekeeping forces, a Provision on the operational working group for preparing peacekeeping operations and a Provision on the head of the peacekeeping mission.
According to the CSTO secretariat, “it is envisaged that peacekeeping operations can be held on the space of the Organization with the notification of the United Nations.” The participation of CSTO peacekeeping forces beyond the zone of responsibility of the Organization is not ruled out, but it will be possible only at the request of the United Nations.

Upon the conclusion of the meeting, CSTO General Secretary Nikolai Bordyuza presented jubilee breastplates “15 years of the Collective Security Treaty Organization” to the CSTO defense ministers.
The defense ministers of Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and the deputy defense minister of Uzbekistan participated in the meeting.
