DUSHANBE, October 4, Asia-Plus -- A joint operation by Tajik and Kyrgyz counternarcotics agencies has led to the seizure of more than 54 kilograms of raw opium in Kyrgyzstan.
According to the Tajik Drug Control Agency (DCA), as a result of a joint operation carried out by officers from the Tajik and Kyrgyz counternarcotics agencies a 41-year-old resident of Tajikistan’s Varzob district was arrested in the Kyrgyz city of Osh yesterday. 54.7 kilograms of raw opium were confiscated from him.
The source at a DCA said that their officers had been tracing the drug courier from the Tajik-Kyrgyz border to Osh, where he had been arrested in a joint operation by Tajik and Kyrgyz drug control agencies officers. A total amount of the seized drugs is $470,000, the source said.
