DUSHANBE, October 6, Asia-Plus  -- Speaking at a CIS summit in Dushanbe on Friday, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev suggested that next year should be devoted to development of transit-transport potentials of the CIS states.

Nazarbayev stressed that it would be expedient to work under the formula “One Year – One Subject Matter.”

“We have decided to set up a working group at the level of deputy transport ministers for elaborating specific proposals on development of transit and transportation potentials of the CIS states and consider the results at the next Summit,” the Kazakh leader said.

He further stressed that issues of interstate regulation of transport system have not yet been coordinated.  He also noted that transport legislations of the CIS states differ from each other principally.

“Implementation by the CIS states of these and other aspects of cooperation in the field of transportation will speed up mutual flow of commodities as well as promote reduction in transport expenditures,” the Kazakh president said.
