DUSHANBE, October 12, Asia-Plus -- The Dushanbe heat and station has worked in full capacity since October 10, Nozirjon Yodgori, a spokesman for Barqi Tojik (Tajik electric system) power holding, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, at first, the station will generate 700,000 kWh of electrical power and 35 gigacalories of heat per day
The Dushanbe heat and power plant is capable to provide with heat some 80 percent of city’ territory, the spokesman said.
Last year, the station generated 228 million kWh of electricity and some 500,000 gigacalories of heat, which are record figures for the facility over the past 16 years.
In the meantime, the station administration has assured that if Tojikgaz (Tajik state natural-gas distributor) fulfills its obligations on recently signed contract, under which it should provide the station with 230 million cubic meters of gas during autumn-winter 2007-2008, the station will work in full capacity. This amount of natural gas will be used for generating 2 million kWh of electricity, which will be enough to meet some 46 percent of the city requirements in electricity.
To ensure regular heat supplies to the residential buildings in Dushanbe it is necessary to repair eastern and western boiler-houses.
The Dushanbe head and power station has also stocked up some 32,000 tons of fuel oil in the case if natural-gas supplies are cut off.
We will recall that speaking at the government session on October 8, the First Deputy Prime Minister, Asadullo Ghulomov, said that work on increasing capacities of the Dushanbe heat and power plant and rehabilitation of the Yovon heat and power plant had been speeded up. The first unit of the Yovon heat plant will be put into operation in mid-October and by 2009 and its capacity will have been brought to 300 megawatt, the first deputy prime minister said.
