DUSHANBE, October 12, Asia-Plus  -- Since October 8, 2007, instructors of the Tajik higher education institutions (HEI) have been trained under the CIPA Program as part of the USAID Accounting/ Certified International Professional Accountant Project (A/CIPA), press release issued by the US Embassy in Dushanbe  said.

About 45 instructors from the economic HEIs of the country are studying Financial Accounting 1, Managerial Accounting 1, Tax & Law, and Methodology Techniques.  The duration of each course is 60 hours, while the Methodology course is 20 hours long.  These courses aim to improve the process of training in economic disciplines such as accounting, auditing, and finance that are so needed in the environment of a market economy.

These courses are conducted in Dushanbe. The HEI’s that send their instructors for training include Tajik State National University, Tajik State University of Commerce, Technological University of Tajikistan, Russian-Tajik Slavonic University, Kulob branch of Technological University of Tajikistan, University of Central Asia, and Tajik Entrepreneurship and Service Institute. The trained instructors are then expected to register for exams that will be administered by the Certified International Professional Accountant Examination Network (CIPAEN) in November 2007 in the above mentioned subjects.

The introduction of contemporary training technologies in the wide educational practice is one of the more important directions of development of the modern system of education of Tajikistan.  This reflects the presence of integrative processes in the contemporary world and joins the category of world priorities. USAID’s A/CIPA Project perfectly reflects these trends in reforming and improving the standards of the state level of education.  The Project’s main education goals are to create a system of qualification and professional retraining of accounting and auditing instructors, and to use best international experience.

The USAID Accounting/Certified International Professional Accountant Project is one of the many assistance projects made possible by the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).  Since 1993, the American people through USAID have provided Tajikistan more than $270 million in programs that support Tajikistan’s health care sector, democratic institutions, education, and economic growth.
