DUSHANBE, October 17, Asia-Plus -- Under an agreement between the Government of Tajikistan and the Saudi Development Fund, a technical assistance in an amount of $4.8887 million has been provided to the Dushanbe emergency hospital.  

Bobokhon Mouminov, Head Physician of the Dushanbe Emergency Hospital, said in an interview with Asia-Plus that they had received three state-of-the-art medical devices, including the MR-imaging unit costing $907,000, lithotripter (an instrument for crushing kidney stones) costing $660,000 and video gastroscope.     

According to him, Dr Bendel (phonetically spelled) has been invited from Germany to train the hospital physicians in operating these devices. 

Mouminov said that treatment with MR-imaging unit costs some 160 somonis, while crushing kidney stones with use of lithotripter will come to $150.  “Patients from vulnerable families are treated free of charge,” the head physician said.  

“Besides, with aid of the Saudi Development Fund 46 computers linked up with new equipment have been connected to the single network,” Mouminov said, noting that 25 computers of the hospital have access to the Internet.
