DUSHANBE, October 25, Asia-Plus -- Prospects of cooperation between Tajikistan and Austria in the field of processing of farm produce were focus of a meeting of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) head Sharif Said with visiting Austria’s Chamber of Commerce official Stephan Ebner (phonetically spelled) that was held in Dushanbe on October 24, the Tajik CCI press service said.
The main purpose of the visit was for Mr. Ebner, who heads the transport and communications department at Austria’s Chamber of Commerce, to discuss with Tajik officials issues related to establishing business contacts and familiarize himself with activity of the Tajik CCI, the press service said.
In the course of the talks the Tajik CCI head noted that Tajikistan needs investments to develop its enterprises engaged in processing of farm produce, fruits and vegetables, as well as wool and leather.
Said outlined energy, mining, light industry, telecommunications, housing, tourism and road-building as sectors which also need foreign investments.
He also suggested that representative office of Austria’s Chamber of Commerce should be opened in Dushanbe.
