DUSHANBE, November 25, Asia-Plus -- Issues related to establishing a special center in Tajikistan for training counternarcotics specialists were a major topic of meeting of the Tajik Drug Control Agency Director Rustam Nazarov with Takeshi Sato, deputy Director of the UN Crime-Prevention Institute for Asia and far East (UNAFEI), and Professor Koji Yamada, Testing System Specialist with UNAFEI, that was held in Dushanbe Friday afternoon, Asia-Plus has learned at a DCA.
In the course of the talks Mr. Takeshi Sato noted that he supported that initiative and would submit the issue for consideration to the Government of Japan. The UNAFEI deputy director also briefed the Tajik drug control kingpin on priorities and main directions of activity the institute and expressed readiness in training Tajik law enforcement officers.
For his part, the Tajik drug control chief informed the UNAFEI specialists of activities of the Tajik counternarcotics agency and measures taken by the Tajik Government to counter drug trafficking.
