DUSHANBE, December 6, Asia-Plus -- The government of Tajikistan has endorsed a national program for combating drug trafficking.
According to the Drug Control Agency, the program designed for 2008-2013, has been projected by the counternarcotics agency in cooperation with the ministries of interior, justice, defense, finance, economic development and trade, health. As well as the state committee for national security, anticorruption agency,, academy of sciences, center for strategic studies, etc.
When projecting the project they took into consideration international experience in preparing such documents, provisions of the UN anti-drug convention, and the results o projects implanted in Tajikistan.
Implementation of the program will allow developing infrastructure of facilities and services dealing with countering drug trafficking, improving quality of services on treating and preventing drug addiction in the country, reducing involvement of youth in drug addiction and raising effectiveness of counternarcotics operations.
The main financing sources of the program are funds provided from the country’s and funds provided by international organizations, donor countries and NGOs for implementation of the anti-drug projects in Tajikistan.
