DUSHANBE, December 12, Asia-Plus  -- The commission charged by President Rahmon with inspecting educational facilities is continuing its work.  

The commission led by Deputy Prime Minister, Khairinisso Yusufi, yesterday visited Khatlon’s Kulob region to inspect higher educational institutions and general schools there.   

The inspection also includes controlling implementation of president’s order banning the use of cell phone and private cars at educational facilities.   

Alijon Shonazarov, an aide to the deputy prime minister, told Asia-Plus that the commission members included senior representatives from president’s office, education ministry and some other relevant organizations.   

According to him, the commission has to date inspected Kulob State University.  The commission has also to inspect branches of Technological and Agricultural Universities as well as 490 general schools in the Kulob region.   

Similar inspections have already been conducted in Dushanbe, Gorno Badakhshan and Sughd, the aide said.    

In the meantime, Education Minister Abdujabbor Rahmonov said in an interview with Asia-Plus that the problem of use of cell phone and private cars by students had practically been resolved at all educational facilities.  According to him, just single instances have been recorded at Tajik National University.   

On the quality of studies and knowledge level of students, the minister said that that sphere required improvement.  According to him, when inspecting some higher educational institutions in Khujand and Khorog, the commission members revealed cases of poor knowledge of students.    

The minister said that final inspection results would be submitted for consideration to the prime minister and after that they would be reported to the president.   

As it had been reported earlier, inspection of educational facilities across the country was launched on November 22.   

According to the Ministry of Education (MoE), 28 higher educational institutions with totaling 146,219 students now function in Tajikistan.
