DUSHANBE, December 25, Asia-Plus -- Introduction of a broad-sectoral approach into Tajikistan’s health sector was focus of a donor coordinating meeting that was held in Dushanbe at the end of last week.  

According to press service of the Ministry of Health (MoH), the meeting participants included senior representatives from a MoH, Dushanbe offices of the World Bank, World Health Organization (WHO), UNFPA, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), Asian Development Bank, UK Department for International Development (DFID), Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), UNICEF, UNDP, etc.  

            During the meeting it was noted that a number of sectoral and national programs aimed at enhancement of the health sector having been implemented in the country.  

To regulate and coordinate donor activities the MoH expressed readiness to launch a series of preparatory events on introducing the broad-sectoral approach, the press service said.  

Besides, it is also planned to hold regular donor meetings for coordinating further joint steps as well as to set up a joint working group for working out a sectoral medium-term development program.  The working group is also supposed to work out a plan of actions.  The plan will include a complex of preparatory events with stating share holding of the sides.  

            During the meeting it was also noted that the final results of research on package of guaranteed basic medical services will be prepared next month.
