DUSHANBE, January 7, Asia-Plus  -- A roundtable meeting formally titled “Corporate Governance: Test of the Pen” will be held in Dushanbe on January 10.

The meeting is part of the Central Asia Corporate Governance Project implemented and funded by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group.

Ms. Tahmina Nourova, the project coordinator for Tajikistan, told Asia-Plus that the roundtable meeting aims to promote regular coverage of the corporate governance issues in mass media.  According to her, such an event is being held in Dushanbe for the first time.

“That is why experts will start training of journalists with questions such as “What is corporate governance?” and “What are benefits of the corporate governance practice?” and so forth,” Nourova said, noting that the meeting will be held in an interactive format.

Vadim Nigmatov, public relations and media officer, IFC Tajikistan, Victoria Viktorova, adviser for legal matters, IFC Tajikistan, and Tahmina Nourova are expected to speak at the meeting.

The mission of the corporate governance project is to improve corporate governance practices of Tajikistan’s joint stock companies and banks in order to increase their ability to attract investment.
