DUSHANBE, January 30, Asia-Plus -- An international two-day conference formally titled “Security as Foundation of Strategic Cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia” is ending in Dushanbe today.
Participants of the conference, staged by the Tajik Center for Strategic Studies and the Russian Academy for Security, Defense and Public Order Problems, include researchers from Tajikistan’s Center for Strategic Studies and Academy of Sciences, as well as representatives from the Russian embassy in Dushanbe, OSCE Center in Dushanbe, Russia’s State Duma, etc.
Sayfullo Safarov, the deputy director of the Center for Strategic Studies, noted that the conference has considered issues related to cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation in fighting terrorism. The conference participants have, in particular, considered modern methods of the fight against international terrorism, drug trafficking as one of the main financial sources of international terrorism, and other challenges and threats to regional security in Central Asia, the deputy director.
