DUSHANBE, February 11, Asia-Plus  -- Kazkomerzbank – Tajikistan, affiliate of Kazakhstan’s Kazkomerzbank in Tajikistan, has been granted operating license, Asia-Plus has learned at the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT).

The source at Tajik central bank said that the license was granted to Kazkomerzbank-Tajikistan in late January.  

Kazkomerzbank’s affiliate in Tajikistan, Kazkomerzbank – Tajikistan, was registered with Tajikistan’s Ministry of Justice (MoJ) on November 30, 2007.  

Rashid Saidov, acting chairman of Kazkomerzbank-Tajikistan’s board, said in an interview with Asia-Plus that the affiliate plans to start its work with corporate customers in March-April this year.   

According to Kazkomerzbank’s press service, the bank received permit from Kazakhstan’s Financial Market Regulatory Agency for opening its affiliate in Tajikistan in September 2007.  The authorized capital stock of Kazakomerzbank’s affiliate in Tajikistan is 34.392 million somonis (equivalent to some $10 million).    

Kazkomerzbank was established in 1990 with headquarters in Almaty.  In 2005, the bank’s profit was US$154.7 million.  The bank has 22 branches and 69 offices in Kazakhstan.  The bank also has affiliates in Kyrgyzstan (Kazkomerzbank: Kyrgyzstan), Russia (Moskomerzbank), and Tajikistan (Kazkomerzbank -- Tajikistan).
