DUSHANBE, March 11, Asia-Plus -- Topical problems facing Tajik modern journalism are focus of a roundtable meting dedicated to a Tajik Press Day that opened in Dushanbe today morning.
The event, staged by Tajik Journalists’ Union and Internews Network Tajikistan, has brought together representatives from the Dushanbe print and electronic media and local journalists’ associations.
Speaking at the meeting, the Tajik Journalists’ Union head Akbarali Sattorov gave a paper on a present state of journalism in Tajikistan.
Qironsho Sharifzoda, the head of the “Journalist” Public Association, reported on problems of training of journalists in the country.
We will recall that by president’s decree the Tajik Press Day has been marked on March 11 since 1993. The Tajik Press Day is marked on March 11 in honor of the first Tajik-language newspaper Bukhoroi Sharif (Glorious Bukhara) the first edition of which was issued on March 11, 1912.
