DUSHANBE, March 28, Asia-Plus -- On Thursday March 27, press service of Turkmen MFA issued press release, which expresses perplexity over statements of Iran about problems with transit of humanitarian aid for Tajikistan via Turkmenistan’s territory.
On March 26 and 27, some Tajik media released reports about arrival of humanitarian aid from Iran. In those reports, referring to Ali Reza Araste, Press Attaché at the Iranian Embassy in Dushanbe, Tajik media said that there had allegedly been some problems with transit of the aid via territories of other countries, including Turkmenistan, that had not allowed delivering it in good time, the Turkmen MFA press service said.
The Turkmen side denies such explanations flatly as absolutely unfounded and expresses incomprehension over statements made by an official representative of the Iranian diplomatic mission in Tajikistan, press release said.
“Turkmenistan was one of the first to provide assistance to fraternal Tajikistan, sending fuel oil and increasing electricity supplies during inter months,” said press release, “The Turkmen side also provides support for international community’s efforts to provide humanitarian aid to Tajikistan.”
