DUSHANBE, March 31, Asia-Plus -- Academician Mamadsho Ilolov, President of Tajikistan’s Academy of Sciences, today left for Pakistan to attend the 13th session of the Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) within the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) that will be held in Islamabad from April 1-4, according to the Academy press service.
The session is planned to consider the progress of implementation of resolutions adopted at the 12th session, which was held in February 2006, and study technological projects as well as consider a program of actions and the COMSTECH budget for 2008-2009.
COMSTECH is a ministerial committee that was established in January 1981 pursuant to resolution adopted by the 3rd Islamic Summit Conference held in Mecca, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Committee follows up the resolutions adopted by the Islamic conferences in the fields of science and technology. It also studies possible means of strengthening cooperation between Islamic countries, as well as prepares programs and proposals capable of improving Islamic States'' capacities in these areas.
