DUSHANBE, April 4, Asia-Plus -- The State Committee for Investments and Management of State-owned Property in cooperation with IFC’s Business Environment Enabling Project launched a new donor coordination activity, the Working Group to Coordinate Efforts to Improve the Business Environment in Tajikistan.
According to the IFC Dushanbe Office, the Working Group is an advisory body, established for the coordination of state bodies and private sector activities in support of Tajikistan’s Poverty Reduction Strategy, Private Sector Development Strategy, and Economic Development Strategy. It will provide a discussion forum and donor coordination mechanism for projects working to improve the conditions for local businesses and foreign investors.
“We expect the Working Group to strengthen our working relationship with our international partners. It will make it easier to identify and solve key challenges faced by the Tajik entrepreneur,” said Mr. Farrukh Hamraliyev, the head of the State Committee for Investments and Management of State-owned Property.
The new working group will help the committee prioritize issues in the business environment, and will share recommendations with interested donor and government committees. This effort is being launched thanks to support from the British and Swiss governments. The Working Group’s first meeting will be held on at IFC’s office on April 23.
An initiative on setting up the working group was supported by the governments of the Great Britain and Switzerland.
