DUSHANBE, July 8, 2008, Asia-Plus - State and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Kuwait were discussed at a meeting of President Emomali Rahmon with Kuwaiti Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mr. Aziz Rahim al-Dehani, and the head of Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society, Mr. Yusef al-Meraj, here on July 8, according to presidential press service.
In the course of the talks, Aziz Rahim al-Dehani noted that the government and the people of Kuwait had provided $5 million worth of humanitarian aid to the Tajik people in reply to the severe winter crisis that hit Tajikistan this year.
President Rahmon expressed gratitude to the government of Kuwait for the provided assistance.
During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on further expansion of political, socio-economic and scientific-technical cooperation between the two countries.
Kuwaiti diplomat highly appraised the legal and investment climate in Tajikistan and assessed prospects of expansion of economic cooperation between Kuwaiti and Tajikistan as encouraging, presidential press service said.
