KHUJAND, February 26, 2010, Asia-Plus -- A new primary school has been opened in the Asht, Sughd province, according to the Sughd administration press service.
An official opening of a new building for School # 66 in the village of Saro, Asht district was attended by the Sughd governor Qohir Rasoulzoda.
This primary school that will accommodate 120 pupils was built due financial support from local entrepreneur Shavkat Ahmadov. A total cost of the project is 40,000 U.S. dollars.
During his stay in the village, the Sughd governor also attended a groundbreaking ceremony for construction of an additional two-story building for School # 20. The school will accommodate 240 pupils. The estimated budget for construction of this school is 1 million somoni and funds will be allocated from the regional budget, the source said. The building is expected to be finished by September 1, 2010.
