DUSHANBE, May 17, 2010, Asia-Plus  -- In Tajikistan, inflation for April 2010 stood at 0.2 percent, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

A 0.1 percent decrease in prices of products of food industry was reported last month, while non-foodstuffs rose in cost by 0.3 percent in April.  Over the report period, prices and rates for services rendered to the population increased by 1.4 percent.

Inflation for the first four months of this year stood at 1.8 percent.  An average monthly inflation rate in the consumer sector is estimated at 0.5 percent.

1.8 percent increase in prices of products of food industry was reported in January-April this year and non-foodstuffs have risen in cost by 1.7 percent over the report period.  Prices and rates for services rendered to the population have increased by 5.4 percent over the same four-month period. 

In the meantime, the cost of the set of food products included in the consumer basket for actual consumption in prices as of the end of April 2010 was 102.90 somoni (equivalent to some US$23.5) per one family member per month, and with the norm for a balanced diet it was 203.81 somoni (equivalent to some US$46.64), the Agency for Statistics reported.
