On Thursday Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon met with Executive Director of the Asian Development Bank Ashok Kumar Lahiri to discuss current condition of and further cooperation between Tajikistan and ADB, Tajik President’s press service reported.
The sides focused on ADB’s projects for Tajikistan which are planned to be implemented in 2012-2014. ADB will allocate nearly $250mln for their implementation. The funds will be directed for improvement of transport and energy communications and development of private sector of the national economy.
Tajikistan President thanked ADB for implementing development projects in Tajikistan. ADB has already allocated more than $855mln for such projects. He also said that currently ADB supports implementation of a series of projects in Tajikistan worth nearly $530mln.
The sides have agreed to pay special attention to cooperation in energy and transport sectors taking into account the interests of Afghanistan, Pakistan and South Asian states.
