DUSHANBE, July 17, 2012, Asia-Plus -- The municipal redevelopment plan for Dushanbe will be full reviewed before the end of this year, Mirzohisain Sultonov, deputy director of the Agency for Construction and Architecture under the Government of Tajikistan, announced at a news conference in Dushanbe on July 16.
“Under the new municipal redevelopment plan, the territory of Dushanbe will be expanded three times – from 12,600 hectares to 36,000 hectares,” said Sultonov. “The territory will be expanded at the expense of lands of the districts of Hisor, Vahdat and Roudaki”
According to him, the municipal redevelopment plan for Dushanbe was worked out in the 1980s and amendments that have been made to the plan will change it considerably.
Giprogor (the Moscow Institute for Urban and Investment Development), which won an international tender in June 2009, is engaged in updating the municipal redevelopment plan for Dushanbe.
The municipal redevelopment plan for Dushanbe provides for destroying dozens of old houses in the city in preparation for the construction of modern buildings.
According to the Agency for Construction and Architecture, municipal redevelopment plans for more than 30 cities and districts of the country have been worked out over the past five years.
