DUSHANBE, January 29, 2013, Asia-Plus  -- Tajik Ambassador to Turkey, Farrukh Sharipov, met with top managers of Turkish marble-processing companies in Afyon, Turkey on January 24, the Tajik MFA information department reports.

Top managers of Karamehmet Marble, Yuksel Mermer and Afyon’s Association of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Husriad, reportedly attended the meeting.

The sides discussed issues related to cooperation with the mentioned enterprises and the launch of joint marble-processing ventures in Tajikistan.

To study the opportunity of launching joint ventures, Turkish entrepreneurs decided to visit Tajikistan this year, the source added.     

Turkey is one of the world’s oldest marble producing countries, with 4000 years of production history.  Turkey has rich mineral resources of marble, 90 percent of the marble mine located in western Turkey, which is particularly important to Marmara Island, the Aegean region and the province of Afyon.  Nearly 700 marble quarries now function in Turkey.
