A new industrial zone has been inaugurated in the northern part of Dushanbe’s Ismoili Somoni district. The Tajik president’s official website reports that the opening ceremony, which took place on October 20, was attended by President Emomali Rahmon and Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali.

During the ceremony, three major industrial enterprises of JSC Suntiles were officially launched, creating over 650 jobs. The foundation was also laid for three additional production facilities. Once construction is complete, the total number of jobs in the industrial zone is expected to reach around 1,200, with more than 300 of those positions to be filled by women.

The industrial park is built on a former 37-hectare construction waste site, with 25 hectares designated for production facilities.

According to the president’s press service, employee salaries at the new enterprises range from 4,500 somonis to 12,000 somonis.

 

Domestic production and environmental standards

The first newly opened factory specializes in the production of ceramic tiles and porcelain stoneware. The facility has a production capacity of 6.5 million square meters per year, including 3.5 million square meters of porcelain stoneware. Equipped with state-of-the-art digital machinery, the factory uses locally sourced raw materials, reducing production costs and meeting up to 65% of the country’s domestic demand.

The construction of the factory cost 500 million somonis. It also includes a quality control laboratory staffed by 40 women who analyze both raw materials and finished products.

The second plant, built with an investment of 150 million somoni, produces lightweight building blocks (aerated concrete). These environmentally friendly and energy-efficient materials are three times lighter than standard bricks and provide excellent insulation against heat, cold, and noise.

The plant’s annual output is 250,000 cubic meters, covering about 30% of Dushanbe’s demand for construction materials. It is equipped with modern imported technology.

The third facility is located in the village of Kharangon in the Varzob district.

Built at a cost of 100 million somonis, it has an annual capacity of 80,000 tons of lime. According to the presidential press service, the production process is fully environmentally safe, and the lime will be used in metallurgy and construction, including for lightweight building blocks.

 

Investing in the future

President Rahmon and Dushanbe Mayor Emomali also laid the foundation for three new factories by Crystal Green Glass, which will produce quartz, glass panels, and glass containers. The total investment in the project is 1.2 billion somonis, with construction expected to be completed within 18 months.

The project includes the installation of solar panels and steam turbines, which will supply up to 80% of the park’s energy needs, significantly reducing production costs.

President Rahmon expressed gratitude to the city administration and domestic entrepreneurs for their contribution to industrial development and noted that the new industrial zone will serve as a model of technological and economic progress for the country.
