DUSHANBE, January 26, Asia-Plus - Head of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CES), Mahmadtohir Zokirov told a news conference in Dushanbe on January 26 that they had done a big job to reinforce banks of the Panj River in the area of the Chubek water-intake facility in the Hamadoni district.
According to him, a 21-kilometer riverbank protection works was constructed in the Chubek area and the local population now is protected against possible emergencies such as spring floods. “A water level in the river has come down,” said Zokirov, “However, we are continuing to reinforce the river banks.”
