KHUJAND, August 11, 2008, Asia-Plus -- The Sughd regional prosecutor’s office has instituted criminal proceedings against two drivers that were involved in traffic accidents that occurred in Sughd’s Ayni district on August 5.
According to press service of the Sughd regional prosecutor’s office, the 28-year-old Suhrob Abdulloyev, owner of KIA, and the 30-year-old Zafar Bobozoda, owner of Hyundai, face charges under Article 212, Part 3 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – violation of traffic regulations causing death of two and more persons.
We will recall that three traffic accidents occurred in the Ayni district during the period from 9:30 p.m. of August 5 to 1:30 a.m. of August 6 with an interval of several hours. Fifteen persons, including at least three children, were killed and six other persons were injured in those accidents. The accidents took place on the 197th kilometers of the Dushanbe-Khujand highway. All three cars fell into the Fon-Daryo River. On August 6, body of one woman was found. She was identified as 57-year-old Tovous Bukhoriyeva. According to the preliminary information, the accidents were caused by lack of attention of the drivers.
