QURGHON TEPPA, September 12, 2008, Asia-Plus -- An operation, dubbed Children, has been launched in the southern Khatlon province.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Yormahmad Davlatov, a chief inspector with the Khatlon traffic police directorate, said that launched on September 10, the operation, aimed at reducing the traffic-accident injury rate among children, runs through September 20.
According to the Khatlon traffic police directorate, 242 traffic accidents have been reported in Khatlon since the beginning of this year. 106 persons have been killed and 273 others have been injured in those accidents.
