KHUJAND, October 16, 2008, Asia-Plus -- A disaster relief drill ended in Khujand, the capital of Sughd province on October 15.
According to Khudoiberdi Qodirberdiyev, the chief of staff of the Sughd emergency management agency, the drill involved officers from the special unit for disinfection and mass sanitary treatment of people, who practiced mitigation of effects of anthropogenic disaster.
“An exercise to practice natural disaster relief will be held in the Panjakent from October 20-25,” the Sughd emergencies official said.
616 various disasters have been registered in northern Tajikistan this year. Damage caused by those disasters to the province’s economy has amounted to 40.357 million somoni.
