KHUJAND, June 18, 2009, Asia-Plus -- 115 fires have been officially registered in Sughd province since the beginning of this year, according to the Sughd firefighting service.
Five persons, including two minors, have been killed in those fires and damage caused by them to the region’s economy has been estimated at more than 238,000 somoni.
209 fires were reported in the province over the same period of 2009. Last year’s fires left thirteen dead and damage caused by them amounted to 238,000 somoni.
