KHUJAND, May 14, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Heavy rains on May 12 caused mudflow that seriously affected the village of Surkhob in the Ghonchi district, Sughd province.
According to the Sughd emergency management agency, the 12-yer-old girls who was returning from school was swept downstream. Her body was later found by rescuers.
The mudflow also killed 67 head of sheep and goats and 27 head of cattle, the source added.
