DUSHANBE, August 23, 2010, Asia-Plus – New details emerged today morning about the escape of prisoners from pretrial detention facility in Dushanbe today as the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) has released an official statement about escape of prisoners from the GKNB-run pretrial detention facility in Dushanbe.
The statement released by the GKNB news center, in particular, says that a group of prisoners held in the GKNB-run pretrial detention facility attacked wardens on August 22, at 10:10 pm, using irresponsibility and negligence of the wardens and seized their weapons. As a result of the attack, one of wardens was killed and 25 prisoners escaped, changing into camouflage uniform.
On August 23, at about 1:10 am, the armed escapees attacked the post of the pretrial detention facility run by the Ministry of Justice; they killed four wardens and escaped from the prison.
To detain the escapees, the law enforcement and power wielding structures of the country has been put on alert and the operation to detain the escapees is under way.
According to the statement, by president’s order an operational group has been set up to seek and detain the escapees. Minister of Interiors Abdurahim Qahhorov heads the operation group.
